I don't know, seems to me to be rather hypocritical to be both in a panic about global warming and also oppose full assessment of possible alleviation measures.

I think in the case of global warming the media are more interested in the fearful response evoked in their audience than in a reasoned, intellectual response. This -(the privileging of emotion over intellect) - is, unfortunately, quite a common phenomenon in the reporting of different stories
